Expert stained glass installers

For customers in Fort Worth, stained glass installation is not generally something they’ve given much thought to. They don’t need to, because the installers at Fort Worth Stained Glass have got it covered. But we do sometimes get questions about the installation process, which we would like to address.

Many customers are surprised that we do not remove the original clear glass pane before installing the new stained glass. In Fort Worth, stained glass installation is designed to last for many generations. To ensure that our stained glass windows have that kind of durability, of course we use the highest quality materials and detail oriented construction. But it’s the installation process we use that really seals the deal.

Instead of removing the original pane of glass, we bond the new stained glass panel to the inside of it. This has several benefits:

1. The outside clear pane of glass acts as a shield, protecting the stained glass from the elements and even from the risk of getting chipped by a flying stone kicked up by a lawnmower, or a tree branch that’s knocked down in a storm.

2. With the addition of the stained glass, the entire window gets a thermal efficiency upgrade, taking it from the efficiency of a single pane window to a double pane window.

3. Once we caulk around the edges of the new stained glass panel, no dirt or debris will be able to get in between the two panes of glass to mar the beauty of your stained glass.

When it comes to our clients in Fort Worth, stained glass installation is something they might take for granted, but we never do. We carefully consider the location the window will be installed. For instance, if a customer is having stained glass windows added to their bathroom, steam room, or perhaps right in the shower stall, we have to take the wetness into consideration. In many of these situations, we believe the stained glass needs further protection. So when we do the installation, we add a second pane of clear glass, putting the stained glass in the middle between the two clear panes. In this way, the lead strips that hold the glass pieces together and give stained glass its distinctive look are not damaged over time by the water.

Fort Worth, stained glass installation is important to the longevity and durability and continuing beauty of the panels, whether for windows or doors or hanging installations.
