In Fort Worth, stained glass installation is just as important as the actual style and design of the stained glass window itself. The optimal installation techniques are what will allow your new stained glass windows to last for a century or more, perhaps becoming valuable family heirlooms.

Here at Fort Worth Stained Glass, installations are something we are quite serious about. We have a lot of experience with restoring damaged old stained glass, and frequently the installation itself was inadequate for the weight of the piece and was the reason for some of that damage. Many things have to be taken into account with a stained glass installation, and the larger the windows, the more important those factors become. The size and weight of the stained glass piece, the location it will be installed, all of those things make a difference.

When you work with Fort Worth Stained Glass, installation is not something you have to think about. We’ve got you covered. We have various different installation methods, which we can customize to fit the situation.

For instance, the bulk of our custom stained glass windows are installed by bonding them to the inside of the existing window. In this way, that existing glass acts as protection for the stained glass. It can protect the new panel from the elements, or a stray rock picked up by your lawnmower and flung into the window. We caulk around the edges, to ensure that no dirt or debris can get between the two panes of glass.

Fort Worth Stained Glass installation techniques for a very moist environment take that concept of protection one step further. Although glass is not damaged by continual moisture, the lead strips that hold the glass pieces together in the window can be damaged. So if we are installing a stained glass window somewhere very wet, such as a window inside a shower, we will sandwich that new stained glass between the existing glass and another clear pane of glass. In this way, the moisture and humidity will not start to affect the stained glass over time.

For particularly large windows, the type you might find in a church or other religious institution, we will use steel braces installed into the frame to support the weight of the window over time. You can be sure with a Fort Worth Stained Glass installation that we have considered every aspect of the job.
